EVENT DESCRIPTION
Hong Kong Resonance unites the artistic expression of Elsa Jeandedieu, Sylvain Holtermann, and Takeshi Shikama, creating a captivating tapestry that reflects the city’s vibrant soul.
Surrounded by the energy of Hong Kong’s bustling cityscape, Jeandedieu has been inspired in her quest for inner serenity. As she navigates the fast- paced rhythm of her artist life, she strives to find a resonating frequency that harmonises with nature.
Intrigued by the rhythmic patterns that permeate our existence, Jeandedieu channels and translates energy into textured art. Through her creative process, she aims to reconnect with the fundamental elements of nature.
Sylvain Holtermann is a French photographer who uses film and digital photography to explore a variety of familiar and unfamiliar territories through a poetic outlook largely influenced by the works of painters. Living in Hong Kong since 1995, his themes include the beauty of empty spaces, the resilience of nature in the city, and the resonance of time and element in the landscape. Favouring a direct yet introspective approach to photography, he usually works with small-format cameras. For this exhibition, he presents a series of photographs printed on bamboo fibre washi paper.
Hong Kong possesses diverse facets beyond its modern skyscrapers. As Takeshi Shikama becomes increasingly accustomed to the city, he discovered the richness of greenery, the profoundness of nature, and the interconnectedness of all living beings. One winter morning, guided by the wisdom path, Shikama came across the majestic Buddha statue veiled by a misty atmosphere. In those serene moments, he clicked the shutter of his camera, hoping to capture the tranquil landscape.
