Hong Kong Maritime Week 2024 Free Family Fun Day

EVENT DESCRIPTION

As part of the Hong Kong Maritime Week (HKMW) 2024, the Hong Kong Maritime Museum (HKMM) will present a family fun day with free admission on 23 November 2024. This year’s theme is “Sustainable Maritime Future,” and the museum will host a series of family-friendly activities and distribute free souvenirs to help the public learn about maritime history and industry in Hong Kong, as well as raise awareness about marine conservation. Highlighted events include “Explore the Marine World with the Robot” coding workshop, “Story of the Ocean Giants: Health Assessment of Aquatic Animals” talk, “Aboard the Tugboat” tour and “Simulator Experience”. Additionally, there will be treasure hunt worksheet for children, tattoo sticker experience, game and information booths, photography contest award presentation ceremony, docent tours, marine cartoon screening, storytelling sessions, and more.

Together with the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board and the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, HKMM is the co-organiser of the eighth Hong Kong Maritime Week. In partnership with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and InvestHK, a week of maritime activities will be held from 17 to 23 November 2024. Through the activities, HKMM hopes to promote Hong Kong as a preferred base for operating maritime business, provide a networking platform for achieving further synergy among members of the maritime cluster and advancement of professionalism in various port and maritime services, and raise public awareness of the economic significance of the port and maritime sectors as well as the prospects of a maritime career.

This year, “Navigating to a Greener Future” has been adopted as the main theme of HKMW 2024. This theme underscores the strong commitment of the Hong Kong maritime industry to sustainability and environmental responsibility, highlighting the critical need for reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly practices. Accordingly, this year’s Fun Day also revolves around “Sustainable Maritime Future,” featuring a series of unique family activities that echo the theme.
