EVENT DESCRIPTION
The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) is delighted to announce that it will host the first-ever Hong Kong International Cultural Summit on 25 and 26 March 2024 in the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD).
As the first-ever global cultural summit organised by the WKCDA and a major international event to kick off the Hong Kong Art Week 2024, the Summit will bring together arts and cultural leaders from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Asia and beyond. Over 20 eminent speakers from 11 countries and regions, including heads of major cultural districts and top international arts and cultural institutions, will address the Summit. Participants will engage in thought-provoking dialogues and discussions to deepen international cultural exchange and partnerships, as well as participate in a wide range of activities to experience the diverse cultural landscape of the city.
Connecting Cultures, Bridging Times
The Hong Kong International Cultural Summit 2024, with the theme “Connecting Cultures, Bridging Times”, is set to be an extraordinary confluence of global cultural intellect and vision. The Summit will feature an opening ceremony cum plenary session at the Xiqu Centre on 25 March morning, followed by four themed panels to be held at M+ on 25 March afternoon and HKPM on 26 March morning respectively. More than 1,000 global delegates will attend the Summit to exchange views on a range of issues pertinent to the future development of cultural districts and museums. Live streaming will be arranged to enable global participants to participate in the Summit online.
Furthermore, during the Summit, M+, HKPM and the Performing Arts Division of WKCDA will sign memoranda of understanding (MOUs) or collaborative agreements with over 20 leading arts and cultural institutions from around the world to foster international cultural exchange and long-term partnerships, demonstrating WKCD’s increasing prominence as Asia’s arts and cultural hub.
Artistic Discovery: Delegates to Experience Hong Kong’s Cultural Richness
The Summit will be the first international event to kick off the “Hong Kong Art Week” in late March, during which Art Basel Hong Kong, Art Central and other major arts and cultural events will be staged. The Summit participants will have the opportunity to experience the unique cultural flavour of Hong Kong, including joining exclusive tours to M+, Asia’s first global museum of contemporary visual culture, and HKPM, which boasts precious exhibits on loan from the Palace Museum and cultural institutions from around the world, as well as visiting other prominent cultural institutions such as the Hong Kong Museum of Art or participating in cultural events such as Art @ Harbour and more.
