EVENT DESCRIPTION
Hong Kong ICH Month 2026, under the theme “ICH Around Town”, presents a diverse range of programmes. Celebrating the city’s Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), Journey of the Horse: A Legacy of Arts and Culture Light Show features a horse-themed light projection onto the exterior of the Hong Kong Space Museum. Through multi-dimensional presentations, the performance will showcase the rich historical and cultural significance of horses as depicted in artefacts and artworks, as well as the underlying essence of ICH.
Another highlight is the ICH Highlight Tours, which lead participants into local communities to explore ICH-related traditional craftsmanship or other items. Covering eight districts and nine thematic routes, these field trips offer diverse and enriching experiences. The Kowloon City tours focus on ICH items related to the Chiu Chow community, such as Chiu Chow food making technique, while the Yau Tsim Mong tours explore traditional craftsmanship preserved in urban settings, such as steamer making technique. In the North District, the tours highlight the rich clan culture of New Territories villages, featuring events like the Jiao Festival of Sheung Shui Heung to demonstrate how ICH sustains clan ties. Plenty of other districts await discovery, with specially curated routes arranged in Sham Shui Po District and Wan Chai District (Happy Valley) designed for tourists to experience the richness and diversity of local ICH and its cultural essence.
Extending beyond the city centre, Hong Kong ICH Month 2026 also brings these traditions to Hong Kong International Airport through engaging displays and live demonstrations of Hong Kong-style milk tea making technique.
