The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC), the statutory body dedicated to supporting the broad development of the arts in Hong Kong, will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year with a Gala Festival featuring an array of unique arts programmes. The HKADC brings together the award-winning City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong (CCOHK), locally acclaimed artist Ms. Ivana Wong and world champion harmonica virtuoso Mr. Gordon Lee, for a spectacular opening concert on 5 June 2025 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall at 8pm, to kick-start the HKADC 30th Anniversary Gala Festival.
Local Award-winning Artists Will Create a Spectacular Feast for the Eyes and Ears
CCOHK, currently a recipient of the HKADC’s “Eminent Arts Group Scheme,” will join harmonica virtuoso Mr. Gordon Lee and locally acclaimed artist Ms. Ivana Wong for a celebratory evening of music punctuated by beautiful melodies and poetic symphonies. Under the baton of Hong Kong-born conductor Francis Kan, CCOHK will perform Sibelius’ uplifting Andante Festivo, the beautifully romantic At Twilight, Idyll by Fibich, and Spivakovsky’s brilliant and jaunty Concerto for Harmonica with Mr. Gordon Lee as the featured soloist.
For the second half of the evening, CCOHK will join forces with the multi-talented Ivana Wong for a captivating reinterpretation of her first symphonic poem The Missing Something. Composed for piano solo and orchestra with accompanying light installation and video work, Ivana Wong’s symphonic poem promises to create a spectacular feast for both the eyes and ears.
