EVENT DESCRIPTION
South Korean art brand PBG proudly presents 10 South Korean artists in its first-ever overseas exhibition in Hong Kong at K11 MUSEA, the premier arts and culture-commerce destination.
PBG, expressing the core value of “Perception Beyond Genre”, is a Korean artist brand that continually offers fresh perspectives that transcend genre limitations. The exclusive representative of over 10 prolific global artists, PBG actively nurtures their artistic growth and development by organising domestic and international exhibitions, participating in international art fairs, and more.
Introducing globally recognised South Korean artists to Hong Kong, Future Figments aims to uncover a new trajectory of art by observing post-pandemic urban phenomena — especially in a diverse art hub such as Hong Kong. Featuring paintings, illustrations, and sculptures, the exhibits are snippets that encompass the art experience of the everyday person, both in the present and the not-so-distant future, searching for the meaning and purpose of art in the lives of modern citizens in a future- ready world.

The first portion of the showcase features the artworks of four artists who have revolutionised the art scene: Coolrain, Tobey, Rudyindahouse, and Kim Jungyoun. First-generation artist Coolrain’s creations feature street culture mavens and sports world giants, and is globally recognised by the likes of Pharrell Williams and more. With a large fan base and strong foothold in the industry, Tobey’s accolades include winning ‘The Toy of the Year’ in 2017. Rudyindahouse is a pioneer in a new art form — deconstructed sneakers. Illustrator Kim Jungyoun’s street culture- and basketball-inspired works have appeared in collaborations with global brands such as Apple, Coca-Cola, and Nike. He has recently solidified his global presence with a solo exhibition in Japan.
Continuing the exhibition, Future Figments presents a collection of paintings that offer rich imaginary worlds transcending the boundaries of traditional flat-screen images. Grafflex is an artist of growing renown, receiving commission and collaboration requests from global brands such as Montblanc and Bang & Olufsen. Recently, Grafflex also participated in the creation of the Myeongdong Art Street Project in collaboration with Lotte. JeJn captivates with intriguing works that boldly recontextualize existing images into new concepts. Kim Jihee, a rising artist on the global art scene, is garnering acclaim through exhibitions held in Paris, France, and Taiwan this year while preparing for an upcoming invitational exhibition in Macau. Kwon Hana’s nostalgic and dreamy paintings share messages of healing through her protagonist “Nana”, serving as a storytelling medium for the emerging artist. Rising star Manwook has gained popularity as an artist in recent art fairs with her bright colourful paintings that explore the relationship between humans, animals, and nature. Finally, Moon Hyungtae is beloved by Korea’s MZ generation (zillenial) collectors, and was selected as one of the ’25 Promising Artists to Look Forward to 10 Years’ by Forbes in 2018.
The works showcased at Future Figments include 32 original paintings and 14 sculptures, providing a glimpse into the diverse portfolio of Korean artists. Witness the talent on display and seize the opportunity to experience the next wave of Korean art now. Future Figments will be held at CEMENT, K11 MUSEA’s modular creative- and community-driven space, from 11 to 30 July 2023.
