[Fringe Festival 2026] A Letter to the Moonlit Sea
14 February - 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$252 – $280EVENT DESCRIPTION
“Tears are the smallest ocean that humans can create.”
The Japanese avant-garde master Terayama Shūji is regarded as a gem of Eastern literature — his oceanic poems are vast and romantic, filled with metaphors and associations that reflect the solitude and emotional depth of the human heart.
Inspired by Terayama’s poetry, The Letter to the Sea weaves together soundscape and dance, and further integrates real-time projection mapping of charcoal animation. Through the fluid and distinctive traces of charcoal, the work adopts an experimental narrative approach to construct a cross-media, immersive space of light, sound, and imagery.
Fragmented yet poetic visuals flow through the performance, inviting the audience to experience the subtle movement and weight of emotions — to open the smallest, yet deepest ocean within the human soul.
