EVENT DESCRIPTION
It’s long been known that today’s fast-paced world can have long-term negative effects on our overall wellbeing. Now, in Hong Kong, people are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of their physical and mental health. And in addition to regular exercise and yoga, they show a growing interest in the Japanese practice of “Forest bathing” (Shinrin-yoku), which is an international wellbeing movement.
Soaking up the atmosphere of a forest and enjoying the serene embrace of nature provide a powerful remedy for stress and anxiety. Forest bathing also allows urban residents to escape the pressures of city life and reconnect with nature through a deep sensory experience. In the peaceful atmosphere of trees and green surroundings, individuals can achieve a harmonious balance within their body, mind, and soul, effectively reducing the frustrations and stress associated with urban living.
Forest bathing emphasises relaxation, connection, and harmony with nature. The therapy can vary depending on personal preferences and the environment, but generally, it features experiences like a forest stroll to enjoy the soothing symphony of nature, or yoga, meditation, and relaxation exercises among the trees to calm the mind and ease the soul. These types of activities, combined with other sensory experiences, such as gently touching the flowers and trees, inhaling the earthy scents of the forest and the fragrant aroma of the forest flora while listening to the chirping of birds and the rustle of wildlife can have extraordinarily calming effects on even the most stressed out of souls.
On 5th June 2024 (Wednesday), a team from the “THE PAVILIA FOREST I” residential development by New World Group and Far East Group will host an exclusive forest bathing experience at Kai Tak Waterfront Promenade and invite the public to let go of their stress, stimulate their senses, and reconnect with nature by taking a spiritual journey in this serene city oasis. Participants will also have the opportunity to be among the first to experience the unique ambience of “THE PAVILIA FOREST” – the first landmark artisanal waterfront residential project by New World Development on the Kai Tak PARK PENINSULA to incorporate a forest bathing design concept.
The forest bathing experience will be led by Janet Fong, a certified yoga instructor and Forest Therapy Guide from The Balanced Jungle, who has extensive experience and has completed training from the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Certified Guides. Janet will guide the participants in engaging and interacting with the natural environment, letting go of the pressures of daily life, awakening their senses, and establishing a deep connection with nature to experience its healing power.
