EVENT DESCRIPTION

The programme, curated in the European tradition, is inspired by resident artist and the class’s facilitator, John Gale’s own practice. The class involves life drawing as preparation.

Starting with a 30-minute introduction of the foundations of sculpture, the sessions will also allot time for refreshments and conversation!

Happening on every Saturday from November 4th with 4 sessions in total, we invite you to join us for an in-depth course to teach you the foundations of traditional sculpting facilitated by John Gale.

The program includes on female life drawing (nude model), focus on human figure anatomy and time for lively conversation and afternoon tea!

Session 1: Observation and working sketches of the model. Armature construction and first clay layer, and defining profiles and feature locations.

Session 2: Complete the basic mass. Confirming feature locations and proportions.

Session 3 & 4: Detailing and expressions + surface finish
