EVENT DESCRIPTION
Come join us on a one-of-a-kind museum experience using a DIY viewing box ‘Pinhole Cinema’!
Led by a M+ Educator, adults and children are invited to use different props to produce a light projection of a cityscape. Discovering the properties of physics alongside one’s imagination, families will showcase a light show inside a dark room. In an open environment that encourages imagination, this warm-up game invites family members to experience one another’s perspectives, fostering a mutual understanding between adults and children.
After the game, family members will collaborate to build a unique viewing box following simple instructions. Guided by a M+ Educator, this tool will be used at the Horizon Terrace to view the Hong Kong cityscape through different angles and perspectives.
Families can bring home their DIY mini ‘Pinhole Cinema’ viewing box and continue this creative light experiment in other parts of the city after the workshop.
This workshop is a collaboration with LENS, an independent Tokyo-based creative lab founded by designers Kenichi Okada and Kunie Hiyamizui.
