Family Day Art Workshop: Sensory Party in Kusama’s Wonderland

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Jump onboard a tea party inspired by the works of Yayoi Kusama and explore the core philosophy of life through the lens of the artist.

Kusama, the ‘modern Alice in Wonderland’, transports herself and audiences to a faraway, imaginary wonderland with her Infinity Mirrors. In this workshop, M+ Educators will take participants on a field trip to rediscover their senses and emotions, and the mysteries of life.

Families will enjoy pattern-making activities using luminous paint in the dark. Through activities stretched across a long tea table, participants will explore their feelings—happy, sad, frightened, angry, calm and more—and present them through artistic creations. The workshop encourages us to face our emotions fearlessly and celebrate the richness of life.

Three large-scale works from Yayoi Kusama will continue to be displayed at M+, including the site-specific installation Death of Nerves (2022), Dots Obsession—Aspiring to Heaven’s Love (2022) and the two large sculptures Pumpkin (2022) after the first special exhibition Yayoi Kusama: 1945 to Now concluded.
