Special Use of Color in the Artworks – YInMn Blue
In this art exhibition, certain artworks feature a unique color known as YInMn Blue, discovered by Dr. Mas Subramanian and his research student Andrew E. Smith at Oregon State University in this century. It is the first inorganic blue pigment to be discovered in over 200 years since the discovery of cobalt blue in 1802.
YInMn Blue’s distinct chemical composition allows it to absorb all wavelengths of light except for blue, resulting in a vibrant and pure shade of blue. Its stability, resistance to fading, and non-toxic nature make it an exceptional pigment. It is often hailed as the bluest of blues, possessing a vividness that stands out.
The utilization of this brand-new blue pigment in the artworks creates a striking visual impact. The paintings adorned with YInMn Blue radiate a brightness that captivates viewers, showcasing the intense beauty and depth of this innovative color.

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

DavidCow, also known as 張天行, is a born and raised Hong Kong native. In his current self-introduction, he describes himself as an advertising film director / painter. To understand his historical background, he graduated from Jockey Club Ti-I College (a first unique college for sports and arts talented students) before pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He then worked at 4As advertising agencies before venturing to New York Film Academy to study film. Afterward, he became an advertising film director in the shooting industry for ads with his company Cow Films.

During his journey, DavidCow also obtained a Master's degree in Buddhist Studies from the University of Hong Kong for deeper understanding of the meaning of life and sentient human nature. Over the years, he has sustained himself by combining creativity and technical skills. Aside from his commercial works, painting holds a significant place in his exploration of life and imagination.

DavidCow regularly participates in various art exhibitions, showcasing highly original and creatively rich artworks. In recent years, his works have travelled to different art cities of the world, including London, Paris, Madrid, Lucerne, Rome, Luxembourg, Tokyo, Monaco, and New York. This exhibition can be seen as a special showcase of his "local" roots, highlighting his connection to Hong Kong.
