EVENT DESCRIPTION
The inaugural Children Summer Takeover: Creative Day Camp is themed ‘Experimental Playground’ this year. Through a series of creative and learning experiences, children and adults are invited to gather their imaginations to open up spaces for free play within the museum. The camp adopts an alternative teaching approach, emphasising participants’ autonomy and encouraging everyone to challenge themselves, embarking on a journey of growth.
The first two days of the day camp revolve around two large-scale creative workshops, curated by artist Chankalun and the creative duo Stickyline. Museum workshop spaces are transformed using unconventional materials and spatial design, inviting children to participate and become co-creators of their works. In addition to the workshops, there are also guided tours to understand the museum architecture and group activities to explore the museum galleries, allowing children to engage in imaginative and experimental games with M+ Educators as their guides.
The third day of the day camp is a shared learning experience for parents and children. It encourages each family member to engage in creative expression using different senses and to learn to think like an artist, seeing the world from a different perspective. Families can inspire each other and discover new ways of parent-child interaction. The final showcase of creative outcomes reflects the daring and experimental moments from the camp, inviting adults who are willing to rediscover their childlike spirit to become creative partners for their children.
