“Cheers!” Series: The Good Old Days

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will present “The Good · Old · Days” (Rework) Pop-Up Book Theatre under its “Cheers!” Series in January next year. Paper artist and stage lighting designer Lau Ming-hang will bring audiences a distinctive local-featured theatre performance through an exquisite pop-up book with paper puppets, light-and-shadow arts and vivid narrations.
The story begins when Kit, an industrious worker, recalls his happy childhood memories after a hard day’s work. By taking a fantasy journey of his good old memories such as curry fish balls from a hawker with a wooden cart and street scenes with neatly arranged old buildings, Kit reflects on his ways of life at the present moment. “The Good · Old · Days” is Lau’s 10th pop-up book theatre production. This “Rework” version, in addition to the vivid narrative of the storyteller, includes the dancer’s agile body movements and the musician’s mischievous playing, so as to further enrich the audio-visual experience of the audience. Two pop-up book-making workshops in Cantonese, conducted by Lau, will be held at 4.30pm on January 14 and 15 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Lecture Room of Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre respectively.
