On January 15, galleries in the Central Western district will be presenting a wide variety of openings and events for art lovers to enjoy. For the newest edition of Central West Hong Kong. Participating galleries include: Contemporary by Angela Li, Novalis Contemporary Art Design, Rossi & Rossi and Soluna Fine Art.
Contemporary by Angela Li is proud to present “Dear me,” a duo exhibition by Hong Kong artists Fatina Kong and Kwong Man Chun. The exhibition centres around the theme of memory articulated with the artists’ unique aesthetics. Through overlaying colours and mediums within their canvases, both Kong and Kwong visually represent the hazy and distant scenes within one’s mind –– which could be a piece of memory, or a dream that is at times scattered or placid in the depths of one’s consciousness.
Novalis Art Design is honoured to have Ms. Zsofia Ilosvai, founder of Design Pier, in conversation with Batten and Kamp to speak on <ELSEWHERE> our current exhibition of Batten and Kamp’s newest collection commissioned by Novalis Art Design. They will be speaking on the inspiration behind Batten and Kamp’s new collection, about the ‘Elsewheres’ within the current collection and how it creates a dialogue with the current art/design industry at large.
Opening at Rossi & Rossi Hollywood Road on 18 December 2021, Precious Ones: Tibetan Tulkus examines the representation of tulkus in the Himalayan tradition of image-making. The exhibition is comprised of photographs of Tibetan tulkus from acclaimed British-Belgian photographer Martine Franck (1938–2012) as well as a selection of classical bronzes and paintings depicting Buddhist spiritual masters from a wide range of historical periods in Tibet.
Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE), Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong, and Soluna Art Group are pleased to present a group exhibition ‘Ode to the Moon: 吟風詠月 (음풍영월)’ in Hong Kong. This special exhibition is supported by KOFICE, an organization in charge of international cultural exchange projects of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Korean Cultural Centers abroad. ‘Ode to the Moon’ is part of the bigger project by KOFICE entitled ‘Living by Design’ with an aim to showcase various media works from paintings to photography, objects, and crafts by 12 contemporary Korean artists, and reveal their individual journeys of exploring the diversity of Korean aesthetic values from a synchronized perspective.
Soluna Fine Art is pleased to present 「Pervade 滲」, an extension exhibition from the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong which is supported by Art Chosun. The special exhibition will present 11 masterpieces by two of the most notable names synonymous with the first generation of Korean modern and contemporary art: Chung-Hwa (靑華) Ha In-Doo, whose geometric colour field abstract art has roots that can be traced back to Korean traditional culture and Buddhism; and Go-Am (顧庵) Lee Ung-No, who transcended the barriers of Eastern and Western art with his modern and abstract art of nature and humans.
