Cathay International Chinese New Year Night Parade

EVENT DESCRIPTION

In celebration of the Year of the Horse, which symbolises strength, success and positive momentum in traditional Chinese culture, Hong Kong is preparing to usher in the Chinese New Year with a spectacular event on the first evening of the year in Tsim Sha Tsui. This occasion will feature a vibrant parade adorned with horse-inspired floats, accompanied by exciting performances from local and international troupes, creating a dynamic start to the Year of the Horse. This dazzling and energetic traditional festival highlights Hong Kong’s rich multicultural appeal and extends heartfelt wishes to visitors from around the world. Come and join the plethora of festivities for a memorable beginning to the year.

The celebration kicks off with a variety of street performances starting at 6pm:

  • Chinese Mainland and International Performing Groups: meet the international performing groups hailing from the Chinese Mainland and around the world with their renowned shows.
  • Local Performing Groups: experience the mesmerising performances from local performing groups that strive to represent a festive energy unique to Hong Kong.
  • Pre-Parade Street Party: get ready to kick off the festivities with roving street performances from local performing groups starting from 6pm.
  • Floats: rejoice in magnificent floats to usher in the Year of the Horse full of fortune and luck. The first float and parade group will arrive at Canton Road at around 8:30pm and at Nathan Road at around 9pm. The last float will arrive at the endpoint at around 10:30pm.

Starting point The parade will start at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui. It will then proceed along Canton Road, Haiphong Road and Nathan Road. It will finish at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel.

Best locations for viewing the Parade:

Tickets for Spectator Stands (HKD 450 – 600): ticket sales for Seating A, B and C will begin on 7 February at 8am on a first-come, first-served basis.

Free Viewing Along the Parade Route: enjoy spectator-friendly spots without cost along the parade route of Canton Road, Haiphong Road and Nathan Road. To secure a preferred spot with an optimal view, early arrival is recommended.

Live Telecast: on TVB Jade channel and RTHK TV Channel 32 from 8pm to 9:45pm.
