EVENT DESCRIPTION
For the 11th year in 2023, with over 250,000 pre-loved books collected, BOOKS FOR LOVE @ $10 targets to raise over HKD1 million.
In March, online charity sale of books from Children and Young Adults category helped raise close to HKD200,000, with nearly 20,000 books sold.
All proceeds will support the “Treasure Trove” project led by BGCA and promote the development of sustainable volunteerism by the AVS.

Special Activities
• The ultra-popular Interactive Storytelling Showtime returns this year and features a great line-up of storytelling partners, including the 501st Hong Kong Garrison session made up of a group of Star Wars enthusiasts, to inspire young readers through a selection of themes, and interactive programmes. A limited number of seats will be available for on-site registration, on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Young fans are invited to dress up as Star Wars characters and redeem Star Wars-themed gifts.
• The 501st Hong Kong Garrison will also make flash appearances for photo sessions and meet and greets, from 3 pm to 4:30 pm on 23 and 30 April.
• In memory of novelist Ni Kuang, a special zone has been dedicated to his works, specifically for his science fiction novels. Fans can also collect the free limited-edition “Jin Yong x Ni Kuang” bookmarks designed by illustrator Jessica Ho.
• This year’s event will feature three custom illustrations, as well as a limited- edition and specially-designed foldable shopping cart, by local illustrator Bubble Inc., which will be available for sale in limited numbers.
• Visitors are invited to participate in the “Phone Off, Read On” challenge on 20-21 and 27-28 April between 12 nn to 6 pm, switch off their phones and enjoy their good reads for an hour. Successful challengers will receive a reward.
