Prior to cultural exchange concerts in Thailand the HK Phil presents renowned Thai pianist Poom Prommachart and HK Phil principal trumpet Nitiphum Bamrungbanthum. Together, they perform Shostakovich’s First Piano Concerto, a work that features solo trumpet almost as much as the piano. HK Phil Resident Conductor Lio Kuokman opens the programme with Ravel’s La valse and concludes with Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, which depicts in colourful music the exotic tales of A Thousand and One Nights.

The concert runs approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes with an intermission.

The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) is one of the leading orchestras in Asia. The annual schedule focuses on symphonic repertoire, with conductors and soloists from all over the world.
