Swire Properties partners with the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (V&A), to present Bags: Inside Out at Pacific Place, as the finale of its inaugural international tour to mark the Company’s 50th anniversary. The tour marks the first time the exhibition travels outside of UK, following its debut at the V&A. Running from 16 June to 16 July 2023, this sumptuously curated exhibition celebrates one of the world’s most popular accessories through more than 240 unique objects. As a highlight exclusive to Pacific Place’s exhibition, celebrated Hong Kong singer and actress Kelly Chen will grace the event with a showcase of 13 bags from her own impressive collection, representing cherished moments in the star’s life and career.

Bags: Inside Out delves into the style, function, design, and making of bags from the 16th century to the present day. Curated by Dr. Lucia Savi, the exhibition will be displayed in a museum-grade, purpose-built event space, with free admission to public.

Visitors will have an exclusive look inside the world of the atelier through more than 240 fascinating objects, highlighting the significance of bags throughout history and their role in shaping fashion, identity, and society. With a thematic and cross-cultural approach, the exhibition features a diverse range of objects designed for both men and women including culturally significant items such as Sarah Jessica Parker’s iconic Fendi ‘Baguette’ used in Sex and the City, or Princess Diana’s ‘Lady Dior’ by Christian Dior.

Swire Properties is proud to present this immersive showcase as part of its commitment to making arts and culture a part of everyday life. As one of the celebratory programmes for its 50th anniversary, the inaugural Asian tour travelled to five of Swire Properties’ retail centres Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Hong Kong in 2022 and 2023.

To accompany the exhibition, Pacific Place has curated an array of engaging activities and collaborations for visitors and the local communities, including ‘Bag the Spotlight’ 360-degree video booth, craftsmen workshops, guided tours and more to enhance the visitor experience.
