EVENT DESCRIPTION
To celebrate the hotel’s 8th anniversary on 26 August, Cordis, Hong Kong is making its signature “Art in Residence” Exhibition a comeback. The art hotel has invited three local artists, William Tong, Terence Choi and Miloza Ma to collectively create artworks of “Trinity”, which will be displayed at the hotel lobby and open to the public for free from 24 August to 15 September 2023.
The “Trinity” collection consists of three groups of art pieces exclusively created by William, Terence and Miloza who aim to reveal the hidden meaning of living things, including psychological thinking, spirituality in dreams and daily habits. The three imaginary creatures portrayed in the collection reflect the wonders of biological evolution, revealing the mystery behind the existence of all living species. Through the eyes of these artists, the three different imaginary creatures are namely,
“Artificial Creature” – by William Tong
The nature lover believes that everything on earth possess its own form of life, and it is the perception of human beings that imbues a creature with existence. In this exhibition, the two- dimensional works represent “artificial creatures” which are entities that are created by human beings.
“Nocturnal” – by Terence Choi
Being good at creating characters by using different styles of illustration, Terence depicted 16 types of nocturnal creatures who have a reversed biological clock, reflecting the psychological and physical challenges experienced by individuals, commonly known as “night owls”.
“Otherworldly Critter” – by Miloza Ma
Miloza’s 12 critters are associated with the realm of dreams, with each of them symbolising a particular value that can inspire us to be more mindful in our waking lives and to prioritise what truly matters.
Home to over 1,500 pieces of contemporary Chinese artworks, Cordis, Hong Kong provides a discreet and elegant artistic atmosphere which makes it an ideal venue to host art exhibition.
The “Trinity” Art in Residence Exhibition will be held at the hotel lobby on Level L and open to the public for free.
