EVENT DESCRIPTION
Characterised by the dramatic contrast of light and dark, exaggerated detailed procedures and treatment with traditional darkroom techniques, historians coined the term Italian duomo to define iconic Italian art and architecture which focuses on beauty and religious representations of culture.
Italian photographer Antonio Biagiotti was arguably the originator of immersive experiences. His black and white photographs are compelling and strikingly dramatic and artistic, often immersing the audience in the scene.
Part of Italia Mia 2022.
ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER
Antonio Biagiotti was born in Porretta Terme, Italy in 1971. Since childhood, photography has been his passion. At aged 13, he bought his first camera, a Pentax K1000, with which he entered a wonderful world of shutter speed and aperture shots. Over the years, Biagiotti has made services with all types of cameras, but prefers those with large format moving bodies (optical bench), using only black and white film, which he develops and prints by himself in his darkroom. Biagiotti's images have been exhibited in galleries and international photography fairs, including Agora Gallery in New York, Tetenal Space in Rome, Frogman Art Gallery in Beijing, and Shanghai PHOTOFAIRS.All the exhibited photographs of Biagiottia are developed and printed using traditional darkroom procedures, and are deliberately free from digital manipulation. Each print is subjected to a complete and meticulous archival treatment. Biagiotti regularly holds Analog Photography Courses and Workshops.
