The Hong Kong Arts Centre “HKAC CREATORS FOR TOMORROW” last year called for artists’ applications to receive grants for their artworks. The scheme is aimed at supporting and encouraging artists to implement their exhibition or research ideas. Following a rigorous selection flow, four funded entities were announced. Awarded, Sin Wah Lai.
Anchoring the Presence is a practice that connects life and art. Curated by Siu Tung (Venus Lau) and co-curated by Sally Leung, it is the second solo exhibition of artist Sin Wah Lai in Hong Kong, and also the second part of her series of exhibitions exploring “home”. Lai continuously uses every moment of daily life as the medium and theme, combining body, performance and in-situ creative practice, presented in photography, video, installation and highly participatory performances with the audience, especially skillfully transforming “ephemerally preserved objects and materials” into sculptures or spatial installations.
