A Dance of Celestial Rhythms

EVENT DESCRIPTION

The critically acclaimed A Dance of Celestial Rhythms returns this year as the Opening Programme of the HKDance 2025/26 Dance Season.

The “Twenty-Four Solar Terms” (jieqi), considered to be “China’s fifth great invention” was inscribed in 2016 on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. “Jie”represents humanity, while “qi”embodies nature. It is a structured temporal order deeply rooted in traditional Chinese philosophical thought. With the transitions of the solar terms, nature comes alive in glorious colours and fragrances.

Featuring a special invitation to composers, costume and lighting designers from Korea, collaborating with digital image designer from Taiwan and a creative team from Hong Kong, this artistic feast blends traditional and modern aesthetics.

A Dance of Celestial Rhythms is one of the promoted local stage productions of the Chinese Culture Festival (CCF) 2025.
