EVENT DESCRIPTION
Grammy Award-winning woodwind ensemble Imani Winds has performed alongside legends including Yo-Yo Ma and Wayne Shorter, and captivates audiences with its effortless virtuosity and inspirational repertoire, defying conventional perceptions of woodwind quintets.
Since being founded in New York City in 1997, the ensemble has been made up of culturally diverse musicians, united by a shared passion for amplifying underrepresented voices in chamber music—a “secret sauce” that fuels its vibrant artistry and magnetic stage presence.
This concert showcases the impressive range of Imani Winds with a thoughtfully curated repertoire that spans traditions and genres. From Jean Françaix to Paquito D’Rivera, the programme bridges European, American, African and Latin American musical traditions. Prepare to marvel at the ensemble’s synergy and feel the raw, soulful echoes of humanity.
