EVENT DESCRIPTION

From May to July 2025, the Tea House Theatre plays host to the inaugural season of WestK Cabaret Nights – an exciting new series showcasing the best of the city’s cabaret talent. On two to three weekday evenings each month, emerging and established artists present original acts of music, music theatre, storytelling, stand-up and more. Bring your friends and join us for drinks, laughter, and an engaging and eye-opening glimpse into the vibrant world of Hong Kong cabaret!

May: When passion meets diversity
In the opening month of the series, renowned musician Chris Polanco, who has called Hong Kong home for over 20 years, teams up with musicians for two performances (12 and 13 May 2025), captivating you with a unique mix of Latin rhythm, pop songs in Spanish, English and Cantonese, along with theatrical elements. On 14 May, a “Ladies Night” will feature performances of distinct styles by two female vocalists: South African singer Talie Monin offers a compelling blend of African-inspired music along with carefully selected contemporary tunes, while emerging musical performer Chloe Wong ingeniously combines the ideas of scent and music, crafting a soothing experience for you.

June: Echoes of emotions and stories
On 3 June 2025, veteran theatre artist Annie Cheung will take centre stage with a new concert version of her second solo performance in cabaret style, looking back on marriage, career, psychological ups and downs, and other defining moments in life. Featuring 13 original songs rearranged by music director Daniel Chu, the performance promises to create deep resonance with you.

On the night before, 2 June, four up-and-coming musical performers take you on a journey of struggle and perseverance: Marc Ngan tells a moving story of dream-chasing over the past 14 years; Terrence Leung, accompanied by three charming performers, showcases the power of brotherhood with barbershop singing; Kitty Wong alludes to social, family and personal issues with her favourite musical hits; and Coco She reflects on the setbacks and growth along the journey of love.

July: The courage to dream
On 14 July 2025, the award-winner of Hong Kong Film Award for Best Original Film Song Tse Nga-yi takes a breather from her studies in performing arts in Taipei and returns to Hong Kong for a heartfelt solo performance, where she reminisces about her whimsical and sentimental experience as a street performer.

The following night, 15 July, you will see a medley of unique performances by three emerging musical performers: Yeung Chun-to shares the ways of survival as an introvert in the local theatre industry; Cecilia Lau weaves interactive elements into a poetic show featuring live music and drama; and Nicole Tam channels her thoughts into a selection of songs, exploring the ups and downs of life’s journey.
