Presented by Musicus Society and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, Jockey Club Musicus Heritage Stories: Interweaving Contours welcomes Cameristi della Scala and Musicus Soloists Hong Kong (MSHK) as part of a unique fusion in heritage concerts at Tai Kwun. In this special collaboration, the internationally acclaimed chamber orchestra bring their renowned flair and brio rooted more than 240 years of history of La Scala to Hong Kong under the baton of conductor Wilson Hermanto. They are joined by MSHK and soloists Trey Lee on the cello and Annis Ma on the viola. The concert program of Interweaving Contours celebrates the partnership between local and international artists in the joint ensemble through lyrical Italian works and soul-stirring classics of the Romantic era.
Musicus co-founder Trey Lee leads in the first ensemble concert on 3 May as soloist in Boccherini’s highly virtuosic Cello Concerto in D. In the second ensemble performance on 4 May, Annis Ma, an award- winning violist and graduate student at the Curtis Institute of Music, takes on works by Bruch and Weber to offer a rare showcase of the viola’s distinctive expressive depth. Both concerts will conclude with Tchaikovsky’s graceful Serenade for Strings.
