Soluna Fine Art is proud to present Invitation, the first solo exhibition of Hong Kong-based Korean artist Zang Zong-Son with the gallery. The exhibition will feature a selection of Zang’s latest works, showcasing her distinctive flair for vivid colors, intricate patterns, and her unique ability to blend spontaneous intuition with deliberate contemplation. By transforming the ordinary into extraordinary visual narratives, Zang’s captivating collection of paintings encourages viewers to appreciate and cherish the beauty embedded in the small and mundane objects of everyday life. 

From still life compositions in her studio to landscapes of her familiar Stanley neighbourhood, Zang’s creations reflect the rich texture of her experiences in vibrant Hong Kong. In her works, Zang deconstructs figurative visual elements, improvising with abstract forms and vibrant hues. By balancing imagination and reality, she reinterprets her perceptions, creating scenes that blur the lines between substance and illusion. This exhibition offers an intimate glimpse into Zang’s studio and her creative process, inviting you to embark on a journey through her sensuous paintings and enchanting artistic universe.

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

Zang Zong-Son (b. 1965) spent her childhood in Korea, graduated from Yonsei University and lived in Hong Kong, London and Singapore. Returning to Hong Kong in 2004, Zang's peripatetic nature of life in her earlier years ignited a yearning for a sense of belonging which she ultimately found in the world of painting. In 2007 she started to explore painting through overseas workshops in Europe and the United States. As a perceptual painter, she observes daily life scenes, everyday objects and people in her surrounding neighborhood and translates them into her own visual storytelling between the imagery and representation beneath the fragmented surfaces. Capturing the beauty of mundane objects and ordinary moments in life, Zang's abstract paintings encapsulate the subject's history along with her emotional and physical responses to them.
