EVENT DESCRIPTION
Grotto Fine Art is thrilled to announce a special presentation of the ink installation “The Inhabitant Islets” by leading Hong Kong artist Shum Kwan Yi.
This installation features 19 original ink on silk landscape paintings enclosed in custom made lightboxes. In a room resembling a security chamber, the line of boxes lure the viewer for a closer look at these deserted islands which are devoid of ferry access, yet remain under constant surveillance. Shum presents these islands as iconic, ironic and thought-provoking, and raises questions about the preservation of privacy and our living spaces in the age of internet intrusion and artificial intelligence.
