Savoir Rêver: A Journey Into Louis Vuitton’s Dreamworld
What better place than Pedder Building, one of the few remaining heritage buildings, built in the Beaux-Arts style in the heart of Central, for Louis Vuitton to present Savoir Rêver. With a name that means “knowing how to dream”, the immersive exhibition showcases the Maison’s mastery in craftsmanship and its pursuit of creative collaboration with artists and designers.
Across two floors, designed by Hong Kong interior designer Nelson Chow, Savoir Rêver creates a fantastical voyage of dreams that offers an emotional odyssey and a sensorial journey into a labyrinth of dreamlike rooms inspired by unique places around the world, acting as a backdrop to Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades and Hard-Sided Collections.
Savoir Rêver is the illustration of the continuous creative exchange between heritage and innovation of Louis Vuitton since the Maison’s creation in 1854. Collaborations with artists can be seen through various creations, such as the Yayoi Kusama Hard-Sided Collection, Baby Wardrobe trunk and the Cabinet of Curiosities by Australian designer Marc Newson.
Unique hand-painted trunks are also showcased: a “Vivienne Around the World in 80 Days” tower, celebrating the 150 years of the book Around the World in Eighty Days (Le Tour du Monde en Quatre-Vingts Jours) by Jules Verne; LV Wonderland trunks, and the Doodle dream white Taigarama trunk, inspired by Hong Kong’s signature “Red, White, Blue” colours.

Nine Dreamworlds rooms display the collection of Objets Nomades, interlacing together Louis Vuitton’s savoir-faire and the skills of world-renowned designers to create collections inspired by travel. Several objets are shown for the first time in Hong Kong, such as the Campana Brothers’ Bomboca and Cocoon, and Raw Edges’ Cosmic Table, as well as Atelier Oï’s leather Quetzal and leather origami bowls and Zanellato/Bortotto’s leather basket tables.

A gigantic installation entitled “The Dream Machine” visually manipulates, through mirror reflections, the fabric of the building into a surreal double height space with a floating spaceship that houses Louis Vuitton’s creations, such as leather handbags, high jewellery, high watches, and ready-to-wear fashion.
For those who cannot visit Savoir Rêver, the ground floor of Pedder Building is dedicated to Louis Vuitton pop up store open until 14 May, showcasing several objects for sale, such as decoration items, travel books and city guides, homeware, fragrance, etc.
