To celebrate the Lunar New Year in Hong Kong, we have selected a few exhibitions and happenings not to be missed, all resonating as a plural choral of reflection, positivity and rejuvenation.

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, PMQ gathered more than 50 tumbler rabbits of different sizes in the courtyard. Full and cuddly in shape, they swing back and forth to greet visitors.

HK PHIL: JAAP | BRAHMS SYMPHONY CYCLE II
Expect terror and tenderness, high drama and soul-piercing beauty as the HK Phil’s Music Director conducts the second and final instalment of their Brahms cycle with Symphony no. 1 and 3.

THE ART OF THE GAME: BEHIND MAH-JONG TILES
To perpetuate local culture for the Lunar Year, Temple Mall displays a precious collection of exhibits, narrating the origin and evolution of the intangible cultural heritage of mah-jong tile-making.

The exhibition features illustrations and drawings of scenes from classic action films and portraits of martial arts stars, large-scale wood painting and playful kung fu animated shorts by Hong Kong visual artist Rex Koo.

Hong Kong artist Cassian Lau presents unprecedented twelve Chinese Zodiac signs paintings in celebration of the Lunar New Year of the Rabbit, reimagined in a witty, bright and colourful version.

Tai Kwun classical architectural elements will be transformed, morphed and choreographed, making references to familiar Hong Kong images and moods, from fireworks and traditional festivities to the unique neon handwriting.

To celebrate the New Year and a bright future, this group exhibition features six artists who use their own experience to illustrate the ways of living in a city.

Enjoy pop-up Chinese New Year installations at six Harbourfront sites from local artists who created the popular characters “Nick the Robot”, “Chocolate Rain” and “Din Dong”. With different New Year greetings as themes, the artists have combined lighting, art and interactive games.
