SUMMARY:Wu Chi Long: To Tibet
DESCRIPTION:Photographed in the Summer of 2025\, To Tibet is a collection of silver gelatin prints made by Wu Chi Long\, capturing various scenes along the China National Highway 214 (G214) and 318 (G318). \nThis showcase is a visual representation of the Artist’s introspection in his 18-day roadtrip from Kunming of Yunnan to Lhasa of Tibet. Traversing over 2\,000 kilometers by vehicle\, the exhibited works showcase countless landscapes in passing\, including mountains\, flatlands\, deserts\, and grassy fields to name a few. Through these curated photographs\, the Artist aims to initiate reflection about the idea of nature and our relationship to it. \nRegistration required.

SUMMARY:Remain Seated Until It's Over
DESCRIPTION:Constant overexertion slowly drains the self. Letting go would break the long-built sense of identity. To sustain the continuity of daily life is merely to force the old contours back together in a fragile adhesion\, while the interior has long since become hollow. \nThis showcase comes from Kan Kin Kin’s long experience caring for family members during illness. It captures the specific emotional and mental state of that time. On canvas\, he replaces consolation or resistance with silence. \nKan Kin Kin seeks to understand the structure and emotional tension of this experience through painting. He renders a series of interior scenes and still lifes in oil. The reference images are first printed on a home printer into rough\, distorted versions\, then transferred onto canvas with soft\, barely discernible brushstrokes. This process softens the originally sharp outlines\, forming planar spaces imbued with feeling and evoking an atmosphere at once intimate and alienating.

SUMMARY:Archipelagoing
DESCRIPTION:Archipelagoing is an Experimental Performative Showcase by Po-Yun Kuo and Momo Ma Pak Yin\, concerning individual being and continuous becoming. \nThe archipelago\, as a geographical archetype\, is essentially a philosophy of the gap. The defined borders of the islands establish periphery and self-sufficiency\, while the surrounding ocean\, currents\, and tides foreshadow drifting\, searching\, and inevitable interconnection. This structure is not merely the sum of its islands; it is a dynamic network woven together\, emphasizing non-linearity and the generativity of contingent encounters. \nThis performance translates this geographical tension into an action-based geography\, directly confronting an existential tension: when individuals are forcibly aggregated and guided towards specific paths and positions\, how can they maintain the autonomy of their internal boundaries? This experiment is a poetic response to demanded collectivity and the homogeneous and monolithic spectacle. It stands in confrontation with the solidification and definition imposed by the centralized grand narrative\, aiming to anchor the self’s fluid\, polysemic\, and perpetually unfixed cultural identity through the body’s micro-deviations. \nArtists:\n郭柏云 Po-Yun Kuo\n馬柏姸 Momo Ma Pak Yin

SUMMARY:Harbour Day
DESCRIPTION:The Harbour Day Project draws on the history of Hong Kong’s single previous Harbour Day in 2005\, using art to address the concept of a lost civic festival. This project is not merely a reinterpretation of the Hong Kong harbour landscape but an active undertaking to reshape cultural memory. \nThe project employs a typological approach\, compiling an archive of Victoria Harbour images collected over many years to present a visual narrative of the city that is both familiar and estranged. The showcase aims to inspire the audience to uncover meaning within the visual repetition and variation\, and to consider how the harbour\, as a site of cultural connection and shared remembrance\, influences our cultural identity and collective memory. \nBook your visit by using the form. \n13 Nov 2025 – 7 Dec 2025\nSunday\, Monday\, Tuesday\, Friday\, Saturday (1 – 6PM) \n*Closes Wednesday & Thursday

SUMMARY:Fung Yee Lick: A Few Things About Calligraphy
DESCRIPTION:Fung’s project explores the “aboutness” of Chinese calligraphy\, using contemporary art methods to delve into the essence\, purpose\, meaning\, and possibilities of calligraphy itself. Through three thematic aspects – emulation of ancient styles\, form creation\, and definition – the works are categorised\, breaking away from the vertical context of traditional calligraphic history. It even attempts to detach calligraphy from its cultural background\, exploring whether it has the capability to stand independently as an artistic medium.

SUMMARY:Call Me by Her Name
DESCRIPTION:Tracy’s solo “Call Me by Her Name” visually depicts a poem about the passive and alienated experiences of a young girl. \nDrawing on her memories\, she creates a scene exploring the girl’s self-positioning as she grows up. While this process seems ordinary\, it reveals the pressure of gender\, sexuality\, and religious roles\, leaving her uncertain between the Self and the Other. Observing her growth\, we sense the girl’s contradictions and doubts during adolescence.

SUMMARY:Hidden Town
DESCRIPTION:Industrial buildings often remind us of garages or warehouses. It also breeds antique stores and hand-painted porcelain factories\, which generate creativity and vitality. \nThe title Hidden Town was inspired by WURE AREA\, an independent art space in the Kowloon Bay Industrial Area. Two photographers\, Rabbit Ho and Hiuman Lam\, walked around the area’s industrial buildings and captured them from different angles. \nRabbit Ho’s lens revealed the buildings’ appearances\, each adorned with cute bunny patterns\, inviting viewers to discover the easily overlooked details. Hiuman Lam’s focus\, on the other hand\, was on the diverse array of people and shops concealed within the industrial buildings\, each with a unique story. \nThis project aims to reflect the vitality and diverse appearance of industrial buildings.

SUMMARY:Fogged bus windows\, sibilant whisper at street end
DESCRIPTION:You do not come to Euphemia only to buy and sell\, but also because at night\, by the fires all around the market\, seated on sacks or barrels or stretched out on piles of carpets\, at each word that one man says–such as”wolf\,” “sister\,” “hidden treasure\,” “battle\,” “scabies\,” “lovers” – the others tell\, each one\, his tale of wolves\, sisters\, treasures\, scabies\, lovers\, battles. And you know that in the long journey ahead of you\, when to keep awake against the camel’s swaying or the junk’s rocking\, you start summoning up your memories one by one\, your wolf will have become another wolf\, your sister a different sister\, your battle other battles. \nInvisible Cities  \nNovel by Italo Calvino \nEach pair of eyes reflects a city\, where people continuously exchange memories\, desires\, and gazes. In this exchange\, relationships are formed\, following a repetitive pattern. As the city evolves with its inhabitants\, human interactions within the city define the space\, and simultaneously\, the city influences human behaviour\, showcasing a fluid relationship of mutual impact. Fragmented daily experiences and observational snippets compose individuals’ perceptions of the city. The city\, undergoing constant changes with the people\, becomes an uncertain and variable entity. \nThree artists used various mediums such as photography\, sound\, video\, and painting to express their fragmented observations in cities. Through interventions\, interactions\, and participation in the space\, they documented the mutual encroachment and fusion of the city and its people. Building upon each other’s works\, they attempted to create a continuity of the records in another space and time.

SUMMARY:Box of LeeLeeLooLoo
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to invite you to visit the exhibition《哩哩囉囉的盒子》“Box of LeeLeeLooLoo!“ at WURE AREA. Three Hong Kong artists\, Cho Wing Ki\, Wong Mei Yin\, and Yeung Sin Man\, who also habitually collect small items like stickers and pins\, present their recent drawings\, paintings and printmaking in this exhibition. \nCho Wing Ki uses art to create memories and connection with the neighbourhood. By observing the moments of taking rest\, she records the breath in her practice. Wong Mei Yin has been staying in Japan in recent years and watches the everyday life of others from the perspective of a stranger\, she turns all of them into imagining scenarios that are familiar but have never existed. Yeung Sin Man likes to explore the idle places in the city and collects the remaining light and shadow as companions\, transforming them into cosy scenes in her eyes. \nBox of LeeLeeLooLoo is a container for storing scenes\, which is light and portable that easy to share and spread out. What could be included there? A park bench often occupied by wanderers? An unexpected sunset while heading back home? A ferris wheel that works from day to night? It seems that suitable trivial things for the box can be encountered from time to time during aimless drifting. The box may not need to have a fixed shape or size\, and it murmured\, “As long as I can ensconce into any quiet corner…” \nOpen 1pm – 6pm\, except Wednesday and Thursday

SUMMARY:It's Stuffy Here
DESCRIPTION:“It‘s Stuffy Here” is an art exhibition about “accumulation”. In a residence that had cluttered lots of stuff\, the artistic team collected objects with the owner’s consent to cast their creative responses into artworks\, in echo with their own stories. \n“Accumulation” (or even hoarding) has become a phenomenon in urban life. Using accumulation as a metaphor\, what is each person stacking in their hearts? \nDuring the exhibition period\, there will be two workshops and two sharing sessions\, with collaborating units including the arts platform Excohk\, independent curator and university lecturer Leung Chin-Fung and the mental health promotion platform StoryTaler. The exhibition is not approached from a perspective of mental health education\, but through a series of extended activities\, it hopes to initiate dialogues among the public. \nGroup guided tours are welcome by appointment. \nParticipating Artists\nCathleen Lau\nGuyshawn Wong\nJay Lau\nSum-Yi Lee\nWinsome Dumalagan Wong

DESCRIPTION:Others and I\, pain and pleasure\, emptiness and being\, representation and things-in-itself (Will)\, and unconsciousness and intentionality\, the world seems to us in a state of opposites and conflicts\, each existing on the other side. \nI cannot truly know others\, and I cannot know the essence of the world\, just as we never see the sun when we only see the sunlight. 靈(Ling) is me\, as well as the essence ; 象(Zoeng) is the representation\, as well as the illusion\, They are in essence two sides in the same coin. \n“The world is my representation” – Arthur Schopenhauer\nThe seeds were deeply sleeping in the heart\, in a moment which was waked up by the thought to respond to the sight. I try to reconstruct the Zoeng that I saw. \nThe proximity of human beings is fleeting and even unattainable. Can we peek into the “shape” of the Ling to make us closer? \nOpening Reception | 30 Oct 1700\n28 Oct – 13 Nov\nFriday to Tuesday 1300 to 1800\nExcept Wednesday\, Thursday and Public Holidays \n\nVenue Partner\n@wurearea \n\nPresented by\n@sonder_exhibition_2022

SUMMARY:Dazzling Season
DESCRIPTION:The inspiration of the show “Dazzling Season” comes from metaphors of life: \nLife is like a colourful paradise\,sometimes shiny\, sometimes dull. \nAt the bright time\, we dance gracefully under the starry sky. In the dark time\, we stand by ourselves. \nLife is like a box of chocolates\, full of sweetness and bitterness. We lose someone we cannot afford their absences. \nWe have no clues but to let go and those people will eternally stay in our heart\, but no longer our life. \nLife is always flowing\, each moment shows a diverse look. \nExhibition Period:\n24th Sept – 17th Oct 2022\nFriday\, Saturday\, Sunday\, Monday\, Tuesday 1300 to 1800\n*Welcome to visit by appointment on excluded time slot \nVenue Partner\nWure Area\nFlat 707\, 7/F\, Block B\, Po Lung Centre\, 11 Wang Chiu Road\, Kowloon Bay \nPresented by @lamyanyan_paint

SUMMARY:(Original)
DESCRIPTION:Where does “Original” come from? Is it exclusive or destined? Is it a tool or a record? If you can find it through your senses\, it will be your company for continuing the art journey. \nThis project aimed to invite art graduates from different institutions\, under the premise of showing their non-graduation-work through an open call and encouraging them to share their distinct realisation of “original”. It can gather as a temporary archive that invites the audience to randomly share the interpretation\, analysis and discussion of different “Original”. \n37 artworks with different mediums joined together in WURE AREA are all from different standpoints of local emerging artists\, whose works witnessed the trace of struggles. The works’ concepts may focus on personal propositions\, simple tests on materials\, freeflow creation or just showing different perspectives of interaction with mediums. These created diversity in the temporary archive of “Original”. According to the coherent viewpoints of works\, they are grouped into different themes: capturing amusing thoughts\, creating the moment with company\, reviewing the self-letter\, managing the time for farewell\, recording feelings\, wandering to find a home\, existing in a default system\, being inspired from difficulties\, persisting to communicate\, ignoring invalid call and collecting reactions.  \nThese (original) are impermanent and shift by time\, hard to preserve. Archive of it\, an eternal memory that can be elongated\, is not specific to time and space. Every artist’s experience through their growth can bring them to different focus points\, styles and other artistic stances. After the graduation show\, artists look back and reflect on their decisions\, creative needs and reasons of art practice.New flavours of “Original” are being discovered continually. Like blue cheese\, not all people are fond of its strong flavour while lovers can’t resist. This time\, all flavours are mixed together and united as a feast in a macroscopic view. \nExhibition duration:\n19/8/2022 – 18/9/2022\nFriday to Monday (1pm – 6pm)

SUMMARY:Freak me out
DESCRIPTION:‘Freak me out’ \nPeople describe things that are out of harmony with normal as ‘weird’\, which makes weird and normal seem antithetical\, and yet somehow depend on each other. \nHowever\, people are used to judging whether various people and things are weird from their perspectives. There never seems to be an objective\, absolute weirdness in our lives. It’s hard to categorize weirdness. Everyone is strange in the ‘right’ eyes. If being a weirdo doesn’t hurt anyone\, would you stop looking at me with strange eyes? \nThe name ‘怪我’ comes from the Japanese ‘Kanji’\, which means injured. Sometimes being ‘weird’ makes one feel lonely\, and thus people blame themselves for being so. As we crave for acceptance\, to be seen as weirdos\, we get hurt by what others think of us. Every time we fail to accept our ‘weirdness’ and choose to present a false persona\, we get hurt by what we think of ourselves. We are so eager to perfect the ‘individual’ and be accepted by the ‘group’ that we are slowly losing our most original and authentic individuality. We keep getting hurt and feeling lonely in the crowd. \nThe seven of us asked the world: If we embrace our weirdness\, would we suffer more or would we be relieved? As a human being\, how do we see the difference between ‘self’ and ‘other’? Let’s begin this adventure of ‘weird’ through the games and artistic processes. \nYou are invited into the weird journeys of these creators: his self-isolation from the masses\, her connection to the inner time and space\, their self-judgment\, acceptance of rareness\, definition and redefinition of what is ‘weird’. The space welcomes all different ideas\, lets go of conventional thoughts and appreciates changing perspectives. \n?️Open hours\n1-6pm (except Wed & Thurs) \n?️Opening\n2022 July 16 \n?️Venue partner\nwurearea @wurearea \n?️Address\nCarpark Entrance\, 707\, 7/F\, Block B\, Po Lung Centre\, Lam Hing Street\, Kowloon Bay \n?️presents by : saved messages @saved_msgs

SUMMARY:Sun at Midnight
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to invite you to visit the exhibition “Sun at Midnight” at WURE AREA. This is a cross-medium exhibition as a reunion presented by five local artists who met at RMIT and Hong Kong Art School 10 years ago. They are Chan Hoi Tsz Nicole\, Chan Oi Yan\, Cheng Wing Man Van\, Lo Tong Tai Vanessa and Ng Hui Lan Gladys. \nThe idea of having the show “Sun at Midnight” was initiated with an inner conversation: \n“Fighting to fill up endless days – yet unable to see where we strayed. A decade has passed\, are we now living what we had yearned for?” \nSun at Midnight represents a veil of dark tenderness\, translucent and out in the distance. An everlasting presence that transcends existence. Galaxies of time to traverse\, yet ever inching closer and insistent. \nEmbracing the remnants of the sun in one’s mind\, once intimately possessed of heat and light.\nTonight\, they set out in the darkness toward the other side of the horizon\, in search of that light.\nPursuing onwards; but anchored by memories of that last journey\, carrying past rituals\, let the obliterated soon be remembered on the trail of burning stars. \nFriday to Sunday 1400 to 2000\nWelcome to visit by appointment on excluded time slot

SUMMARY:38.4
DESCRIPTION:Everything started with the “Sagittarius Birthday Party” – serendipity made our paths cross. The idea of having the show “38.4” was initiated with one wild thought during the chitchat – Let’s hold an exhibition together! \n38.4 was merely an inside joke; there was never a definition. It could be an association with temperature\, a measurement\, a price\, a size\, a password\, or a secret signal. This contingency coincidentally symbolised our encounter as we are a group of arts practitioners who barely know each other\, being active in different sectors of the field and having our schedules. Hence\, we questioned: can we preserve the inconsistency and uncertainty under a specific subject matter? \nNevertheless\, we sought consensus and explored our common ground throughout the meetings and discussions. All these created an opportunity for artists to collide and generate dialogues. It leads us to walk out of our comfort zone through the attempt to try unfamiliar mediums\, and we even perceive the role of art with a fresh eye. \nFor us\, this seems to be a spontaneous exhibition\, yet it might be a chance for us to review our art creation process in retrospect. Some of us are newbies\, while others are putting long-buried thoughts into action as if it is a grown-up version of the graduation show. We believe the variety and inclusiveness of the exhibition can make the works more playful and experimental. It is rare to find new directions out of the accustomed mindset\, so why not embark on a delightful adventure with a sense of pleasure? \nDate: 7 – 29/5/2022\nTime: 14:00-20:00 (Friday to Sunday) \nExhibition takes place in Art Space 1999 and WURE AREA at the same time \nWURE AREA\nFlat 707\, 7/F\, Block B\, Po Lung Centre\, 11 Wang Chiu Road\, Kowloon Bay \nArt Space 1999\n10/F\, Foo Tak Building\, 365-367 Hennessy Road\, Wanchai

SUMMARY:Primates
DESCRIPTION:Homo Sapiens and non-human primates walk in dissimilar ways in society. Humans also have to live up to certain social norms in how they behave\, intending to socialize effectively in an artificial social environment. Sapiens will unlikely be bungling upon changes in environmental data\, but utilize their inbuilt bodily functions to dawdle along the space and feel the stretch of their limbs.\nFrom deconstructing walking postures\, to giving way to instinctive reflexes\, we walk into the straight wild nature of primates. \nPrimates is an exhibition descended from an experiment on the relationship between space and only a piece of 3-dimensional work\, which explores diverse definitions\, and fumbles around its boundaries and scalability. It is an open discussion of the artist and Wure Area’s train of thought. \nThe selected artist for the program\, Michelle Tam Man Ching\, concerns the object’s circumstance between nature and society. She looks for the position as a human being within both conditions through intuition and repeating linkage\, and tries to explore the perspective from sensation to rationality. \nIn the process of the experimental project\, Michelle recycled loads of plastic tags which were the leftovers under mass production. She did not work in accordance with the design of the plastic tags\, but the unknown pleasure to promote the interventions of pulling\, linking\, pairing\, combining\, interweaving and forming a net\, so that an irreversible open relationship between the materials was formed. The assembled glue line is a very sensitive community of destiny. When triggered\, the potential energy of swing will rapidly spread to the whole network\, rising and falling together. She implanted plankton into the reticular system. It is said that when they sense instability and imminent danger\, they use light shock\, which is weak but important energy. She perceived the viewer as one of the media in the system. The dim space weakens the sense of existence of the buckles. The silk threads they make up control the viewer’s pace; The reaction of the algal organism drives the focus of the eye. She thought that the step by step connection and the cautious reaction is a response between the artificial system and nature\, leading to the reflection of the audience. As the experimental program continues to evolve\, the reactor will run with it\, eventually settling down.

SUMMARY:Close
DESCRIPTION:This is a lens-based art exhibition involving the collaboration of four local artists\, Chan Cheuk Yan Glo\, Liao Jiaming\, Wong Ka Ming Rave\, and Yuen Nga Chi. \nUsage of valediction in the letter structure is flooded due to thousands of sending and receiving. The customary and formal blessings may cover up the sincerity. “Close”\, the exhibition topic\, is challenging the possibility of becoming a valediction\, which can comprehend as closed\, not open\, to end\, to stop operating\, careful\, secretive\, lacking air\, near\, similar\, intimacy and so on. This magic ending word requires both the sender and receiver to believe in each other to align the corresponding interpretation even they are having different values of perspective for their relationship. \nFour participating artists\, who are often involved in image processing\, developed their personal relationship diagrams through the early\, middle\, and late stages of image processing. All kinds of relationships develop as phenomena through the effort of the involved one\, it is a mixture of all dictions of close.

DESCRIPTION:〝『我唔要見到有聲音』That was she said〞at WURE AREA is a cross-media visual arts exhibition involving the collaboration of two local artists\, Macy Tse Ming Sze and Kevin Ling Chung Wan. \nAfter the time encountered via WURE AREA residency program\, Macy and Kevin interflowed their imagination with each other and others in art professional. The ideology may be shaped by the experience and difficult to get rid of the hidden impression. They would like to share their own views in the visual language and review the elements from different perspectives to observe if the impression is a shareable collective idea or a personal and sole consciousness. Welcome to visit and peek at their recent thoughts in these years while they are growing and aging in Hong Kong. \n*Welcome to visit by appointment on weekdays.

SUMMARY:《BED THROW》
DESCRIPTION:Bed Throw is a cross-media visual arts exhibition involving the collaboration of three local artists\, Chung Ka Chun Ken\, Lui Yan Yi Mindy\, and Tang Pak Hin Shawn. \nThe works of the artists present their art practice referring to the development and interconnectedness between the metaphysical value and the essence of different things. They investigate this phenomenon of the second layer of human-generated value being defined by society to suggest what should be discarded\, pursued and believed in. Through the artist’s reflection\, they open up gateways to represent and perceive the meaning and the value.
