SUMMARY:Dreamscapes
DESCRIPTION:The Studio for Narrative Space\, with the support of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council\, is proud to announce its upcoming exhibition\, Dreamscapes. Opening on 27 February to 10 March at Hong Kong Arts Centre Pao Galleries\, this immersive exhibition investigates the dream as one of humanity’s oldest and most profound sources of creativity\, insight\, and unconscious vision. \nDreams have perpetually fascinated humanity\, serving not as mere fantasies but as profound echoes of our inner worlds. They transcend the rigid logic of waking life\, dissolving time and space to create boundless\, personal realms. Dreamscapes explores this phenomenon by bringing together a roster of international contemporary artists who treat dreams as shared narrative spaces. Through installation\, moving image\, photography\, interactive systems\, and live performance\, the exhibition examines dreams as sites of speculation\, trauma\, desire\, and self-projection. \nIn our current era\, defined by artificial intelligence\, data systems\, and computational vision\, the nature of the dream is evolving. Dreams are now externalized as datasets\, simulations\, glitches\, and digital archives\, creating a new frontier where the human subconscious meets machine imagination. Dreamscapes delves into this intersection\, showcasing how artists use technology—particularly AI-driven processes—to revisit\, interpret\, and reconstruct dream logic. The exhibition prompts a critical reflection on how our inner worlds are externalized and how contemporary tools reshape the ways we remember\, predict\, and narrate our very selves. \nHighlights include: \n\na series of installations that physically manifest the softening and sharpening of dream logic by international and local artists including dream photographer Nicholas Leconte\, installation artists Cong Wu and Evie Chen\, and cross-disciplinary Hong Kong artist Kazy Chan\ninteractive VR experiences that allow visitors to “step inside” algorithmically generated dream environments\naudiovisual works that explore dreams as datasets and the glitches that occur between memory and digital storage\nlive performances that enact the blurring of time boundaries and subconscious projection\n\nDreamscapes is a must-see for anyone interested in contemporary art\, digital culture\, psychology\, and the future of human creativity. It challenges audiences to reconsider the boundary between the private self and the shared technological reality we are collectively building.
