SUMMARY:Hong Kong Art School and RMIT University Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) Graduate Exhibition 2025
DESCRIPTION:As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong Art School\, the Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) Program cost-presented with RMIT Universality Graduate Exhibition 2025\, titled “Calling”\, will be held from 5 to 21 July at Pao Galleries\, Hong Kong Arts Centre\, showcasing the works of graduating students specialising in ceramics\, painting\, photography\, and sculpture. \nCalling presents the unique journeys shaped by each graduate’s inner voice and experiences. It reflects fragments of growth\, adaptation\, and individuality\, transformed into a revolving echo that leaves a lasting mark on one’s life. No two echoes are the same\, yet they resonate with universal connections. Through their tangible forms\, all are invited to engage with the voice that calls out to you and delve into moments of introspection and intimate exchanges. \nThis exhibition will showcase 39 outstanding works from 31 graduates of the Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art)\, including 12 ceramic pieces\, 20 paintings\, 3 photography\, and 4 sculptures. \nSince 2000\, we have nurtured  approximately 4\,000 students  from our award-bearing programs. Over 80% of our graduates are employed after graduation  \, mainly in art\, culture\, design\, creative industries\, and art education. The art pieces from Hong Kong Art School alumni have achieved recognition in art fairs\, art institutions\, and galleries around the world\, This establishes Hong Kong Art School as a nurturing ground for contemporary artists.

SUMMARY:Hong Kong Art School / RMIT University Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) Graduate Exhibition 2024 - Ephemeral
DESCRIPTION:Ephemeral\, is the title and theme of the Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) Graduate Exhibition 2024\, co-presented by the Hong Kong Art School (HKAS) and RMIT University. This exhibition is the culmination of the major studies of graduates\, held at the Pao Galleries of the Hong Kong Arts Centre from 6 to 22 July. The works of different media\, including ceramics\, painting and photography\, represent the collective call of the graduates in their understanding and pursuit of art. \nEphemeral\, is best captured by the ancient philosopher Heraclitus: “No one ever steps into the same river twice\, for it is not the same river and they are not the same person. Everything is in flux\, everything is constantly changing\, and nothing remains still.” Graduates embraced the notion that life\, like art\, is in perpetual motion. The works on display are not merely static; they are narratives that echo the continuous flow of time and the emergence of new perspectives. \nImmerse yourself in Ephemeral and celebrate the transformative power of art that continues to shape our identities and futures.

SUMMARY:Closer Together
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate 25 years of partnership between the Hong Kong Art School and RMIT\, the two institutions are proud to co-present a spectacular exhibition\, Closer Together. This exhibition is a testament to relationships formed through collaboration and discussion despite situations of distance or isolation\, featuring 15 artists from this community to honour the intimate connections and ground-breaking exchanges fostered in this partnership. \nIn the development of Closer Together\, the co-curators of the exhibition – Rachel Cheung (Hong Kong Art School Lecturer and Program Coordinator)\, Shirky Chan (Hong Kong Art School Alumni Network Vice-Chair) and Tammy Wong Hulbert (Senior Lecturer & International Co-ordinator\, RMIT University School of Art) – considered what constitutes intimacy and how this may be expressed through action and material form in the art-making process. The curators examined the ideas of “closeness” and “togetherness” and how intimate relations are formed over time.

SUMMARY:Umarell” - Emerging Artists Showcase New Gen Art Thinking
DESCRIPTION:Hong Kong Art School (a division of Hong Kong Arts Centre) and RMIT University are partnering to present the Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) Graduate Exhibition 2023 at the Pao Galleries (Hong Kong Arts Centre)\, from 8 to 24 July 2023.  The exhibition brings together a collection of works from thirty-one graduates\, debuting after three years of art exploration. Through diverse mediums including painting\, ceramics\, sculpture\, photography\, installation and performance art\, the artists present their unique perspectives of seeing and different ways of art making. \nTitled “遊園終日 Umarell”\, the exhibition sets the scene for the artists’ reflection on the objectivity of seeing and art making. The Italian slang “umarell” refers to retirees who spend days watching construction works\, offering unwanted advice to the workers. Words do not impede changes to their community\, but they persist in expressing themselves with great gusto. On the other hand\, the Chinese title “遊園終日” traces back to the ancient literati who roamed around gardens\, drinking\, mingling\, writing poems\, expressing their sentiment and ambition despite being overlooked by majority. The context of the English and Chinese titles appears unrelated\, but they synchronise and reflect similar situations of the keen observers\, and how they respond to changes with genuineness and optimism.  In art practice\, the act of observing different facets of the social environment activates the collision of transformational ideas. Wandering and seeing engender contemplation and lead to meaningful art pursuits. \nThe graduation exhibition will showcase the emerging artists’ profound insights and reflections on contemporary society and culture. Visitors can not only appreciate the graduates’ creative achievements but also feel their passion and creativity for art. It is an excellent opportunity to understand the new generation of artists and their works. \nThis year’s Graduate Exhibition of the Hong Kong Art School / RMIT University is deeply honored by the support from our major sponsors (listed in no particular order): 1a space\, Art6 Creation\, Corporate Press (HK) Limited\, Mr. Lee Boon Ying\, Hearty Ceramic Supply Co\, Hidden Space\, Mooroom\, Sinag Art Space\, WMA and WURE AREA\, and the Jerry Kwan Memorial Award sponsored by Anonymous.

DESCRIPTION:Inverse is the title and theme of the 22nd edition of the Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) Graduate Exhibition co-presented by the Hong Kong Art School (HKAS) and RMIT University.
