SUMMARY:Upcycling Fashion Design Competition Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:agnès b. has always been committed to applying sustainability on fashion\, especially fond of collaborating with various partners to create quality greener fashion items with international acclaimed standards. This year\, youth designers were cordially invited by SPORT b.\, the younger line of agnès b.\, for a collaboration in promoting environmental awareness in the fashion industry. \nAs one of the initiatives\, SPORT b. joins hands with Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) to co-present Upcycling Fashion Design Competition Exhibition. Students were invited to recycle off-season apparels\, recreate a unique jacket combining innovation\, aesthetics and practicality. Through the design and creating process\, the competition allows the students to acknowledge the importance of sustainability\, in the hopes of inspiring them to include eco-friendly elements in their future design. \nThe competition wishes to nurture and encourage the next generation of fashion designers\, it was a pleasure to have received the full support and participation from the fashion design students of Department of Fashion and Image Design. \n10 best designs were selected out of a hundred entries by a professional judging panel and exhibited. The fashion design student Trista Li Ya Yuen\, the Champion shared “I am absolutely delighted to receive the award. Throughout the competition\, I’ve developed a deeper understanding on upcycling fashion\, as well as the importance between creativity and functionality. I would like to express my gratitude to my teachers on their guidance. Last but not least\, thank SPORT b. for holding the exhibition\, in which I could get more recognition for my work.” \nThe awarded design was inspired by the sanitation workers’ cleaning procedures. Trista found that the workers have to clean up a lot of fragmented or tattered waste\, which the waste could actually be reused if they were given more thought. Therefore\, Trista gave the apparel a new life by disassembling and reassembling different clothing components to create a fashionable and functional jacket. \nUpcycling Fashion Design Competition Exhibition is running now until 29 May\, 2022 at agnès b. concept store at K11 Art Mall. Come and check out the top 10 designs and explore more about the upcycling fashion combining art and sustainability.

SUMMARY:Melchior Tersen: Planetarium
DESCRIPTION:agnès b. is delighted to announce their latest collaboration with the emerging Parisian photographer and archivist Melchior Tersen by bringing the “Planetarium” exhibition to the Hong Kong audience\, inviting the public to explore the French pop art and culture. Featuring 450 photographs of unique objects taken by Melchior Tersen in Paris\, the exhibition is running now until 27 March\, 2022 at agnès b. concept store at K11 Art Mall. \nThis unique collaboration perfectly showcases agnès b.’s unfailing support of emerging artists\, especially considering that Melchior Tersen perfectly represents the current young and trendy photographic scene in Paris. Melchior Tersen’s photography documents his obsessive nightly and daily wanderings and questions the standpoints\, attitudes\, behaviours\, and structures of contemporary culture. \nMelchior Tersen’s art is about collectibles\, he shared without hesitation\, “my works are inspired by my everyday life\, every picture is a moment of life.” He further explained\, “There has been a moment where I did a lot of portraits of people. But after some time\, I prefer to show what humans do rather than what they are. I have always loved objects\, always bought stuffs\, and taken pictures of figurines or clothes. To me\, it is just like doing the portrait of an object.” \n“He himself is an admirer of the culture he portrays. But above all\, this is what he’s passionate about and what drives his everyday life. Melchior Tersen is a first-person photographer.” Valentin Vennesson\, art curator. \nThis exhibition is another collaboration between agnès b. and Melchior Tersen after the group exhibition “…Photographers… Artists And The Snap Cardigan” in 2019\, celebrating the brand’s 40th anniversary of the infamous cardigan of the same name created by agnès b.. He also participated in the group photographic exhibition at the Galerie du jour agnès b. Miscellaneous in 2021. His solo show\, Planetarium\, will be toured in Tokyo this summer.
