EVENT DESCRIPTION
Every year in March, Hong Kong plays host to a diverse array of arts-related events and activities, including some of the world’s most exciting art fairs. With the vision of bringing art and culture into everyday life, Nan Fung Group’s Kai Tak flagship shopping mall AIRSIDE celebrates “Art March” by bringing the showstopping work of American artist Ken Kelleher to Hong Kong.
“Monsters in the Universe” is Kelleher’s very first installation art show in Greater China, running from 21 March to 5 May 2024. As a nod to Easter, the show features two five-metre-tall inflatables of Starhopper and QuantumLeap, characters from Kelleher’s Sky Bunnis series. The Starhopper inflatable is in fact a special edition which has incorporated elements of Kai Tak Airport. At The Atrium, the artist’s out-of-the-ordinary The Fuzz and The Monstrous Marvels creations greet the public. The playful installations offer a glimpse into the artist’s whimsical imagination and inspire visitors with a host of experiences, including an interactive projection game, a photo booth and a claw machine. During the exhibition period, a pop-up store will offer merchandise exclusive to the Hong Kong show, while a food truck will provide delicacies themed on various characters.
