About “My Voice My Life Revisited”
My Voice, My Life followed classes of students from three high schools for underprivileged kids and one school for the visually impaired as they embarked on a voyage of self-discovery through taking part in a musical production. The director explores Hong Kong’s education system in the form of a documentary. Dividing students into different groups of schools according to their grades, makes the students being despised, labeled, and marginalized because of their lower grades. Six years later, what kinds of lives are they leading now? My Voice, My Life Revisited goes in search of four of those students, charting their transformation and how they have grown over these past few years, as well as the challenges they are facing today. Director Yang decided to use clips from “My Voice My Life” while editing “My Voice My Life Revisited”, to make it become an independent work. Let the audience who have never enjoyed the previous film, know the changes of the protagonists.
