Kelly Yeung: Kelly’s Toy Box

4 February 2023 - 25 February 2023

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Galerie Koo is delighted to present the first solo exhibition of Hong Kong artist Kelly Yeung.

We often try to live under various challenges and pressures, gradually forgetting the seemingly mundane but indispensable everyday experiences, and only by slowing down can one realise the beauty in them. For Kelly, capturing life’s moments is part of her creative process, and she often fuses the characters with emotional connections which include, naturally… “a special fluffy friend(s)”.

“Kelly’s Toy Box” will present for the first time the latest series of paintings by Kelly Yeung – creative works bearing dream-like characteristics in a delightful, endearing manner with distinctive settings, always from a chic yet adorable perspective.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Kelly Yeung graduated from Northwood University in 1994 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and has engaged in the service industry in Hong Kong since graduation. Yet, her joyous moments primarily derived from infusing herself with painting and art appreciation from an early age, laid a solid foundation for her love of art that is close to her heart!

Not only did Kelly follow art tutors and masters, but she also read extensively about “how to paint” and practised diligently, pouring her heart into painting… she began painting during her adolescence in the United Kingdom & Canada, and during her university years in the United States. Since 2011, Kelly followed her heart and has taken up her joyful pastime of painting… like a dreamer…

Since 2018, under the guidance of her mentor, Mr William Chiang, Kelly humbly refines her skills while accepting criticisms along the way, and it was by then Kelly started to master her painting skills more profoundly.
