French Science Festival 2026

1 October - 12 October

Free

EVENT DESCRIPTION

From 1 to 12 October 2026, the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau will host a new edition of the Fête de la Science, France’s flagship annual celebration of science and scientific culture.

Created in 1991 by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the event brings together thousands of researchers, scientific institutions and cultural organisations each year with a shared ambition: bringing science closer to society, fostering dialogue between researchers and the public, and inspiring future generations of scientists. In Hong Kong, where the festival is co-organised with the Hong Kong Science Museum, it also serves as a major highlight of France–Hong Kong scientific cooperation, showcasing the excellence of French research.

Under the national theme “Tasty Science” (Saveurs Savantes), this year’s programme invites audiences to explore the close connections between science, gastronomy, culinary innovation, sustainable food systems and health. Through an opening conference, an immersive exhibition, a hands-on workshop and a documentary screening, visitors will discover how chemistry, physics, biology, sensory science and nutrition research shape the way we produce, prepare and enjoy food.
