EVENT DESCRIPTION
Hong Kong contemporary ink feather artist Christina Tung Wai will soon be exhibiting in “Awakening Desert – Hong Kong Outstanding Artists Exhibition” held at Hall 9 of AsiaWorld-Expo from 24th to 27th May 2023.
“Odyssey of Feather” – Christina Tung Solo Exhibition 2023 at Booth 9E11 will showcase 30 of her artworks, including “Miracle 2” with characteristics of the times and “Propitious Portent”, one of the top 500 ink paintings worldwide in “Ink Global 2021”. Christina’s solo exhibition will also feature her iconic feather works that utilise various materials and media – layered texture on flimsy paper, unique visual appeal on top grade Swedish cowhide leather achieved by meticulous techniques, enhanced depth and dimension on Japanese linen paper by mastered wash and shading techniques, a perfect testament to Christina’s poise and expertise as an artist.
In the “Miracle” series, Christina combines the elegance of feathers with the supple texture of leather, transforming over 1,800 little pieces of leather into three immense pairs of wings spanning 30 feet as a blessing to Hong Kong.
“Awakening Desert – Hong Kong Outstanding Artists Exhibition” is one of the key projects of the 2nd Belt & Road National Art & Culture Expo and the 5th Hong Kong International Arts & Collectibles Expo. It brings together brilliant artworks from Hong Kong artists across a diversity of categories, including Chinese calligraphy and painting, new ink art, contemporary art, oil painting, watercolour, sculpture, installation art, etc., leading Hong Kong out of being a cultural desert.
